The best prospects from the country will have the opportunity to make a lasting impression on tons of league executives. Two very intriguing prospects have been barred from attending the combine, though.According to NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero, Mississippi State defensive tackle Jeffrey Simmons and Colorado State wideout Preston Williams don’t meet the criteria for the NFL’s policy about past issues involving violence.League policy states that players can’t participate at the combine if a background check shows misdemeanor or felony convictions, such as domestic violence, sexual offense or sexual assault.Simmons was arrested in 2016 due to a physical dispute with a woman, meanwhile Williams was also arrested for an altercation involving a woman that occurred in 2017.This is huge news for both prospects, especially considering that scouts are high on their potential.Mississippi State DT Jeffery Simmons – a potential top-10 pick – and Colorado State WR Preston Williams have been informed they won’t be invited to the scouting combine because they don’t meet the criteria under the NFL’s policy about past issues involving violence, sources say.— Tom Pelissero (@TomPelissero) January 31, 2019Simmons is one of the best interior defenders in this class, as he finished his final collegiate season with 63 total tackles, a forced fumble and two sacks. On the other hand, Williams proved his worth at Colorado State by hauling in 96 catches for 1,345 yards and 14 touchdowns. They’ll have to showcase their athletic skills at their respective pro day workouts.last_img read more
