President Donald Trump said “we have to do something” about social media companies. Getty Images President Donald Trump is again alleging that social media companies are biased against conservatives.During a joint press conference with Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro on Tuesday, Trump said “we have to do something” about social media companies discriminating against conservatives on their platforms. “Something is happening with those groups of folks that are running Facebook, Google and Twitter,” said Trump. “I do think we have to get to the bottom of it … It’s collusive and it’s very, very fair to say that we have to do something about it.”Trump’s comments came after he was asked whether he’d consider laws that made social media platforms liable for content posted on their sites and his support for a $250 million lawsuit against Twitter over allegations of “shadow banning” conservatives. “It’s different from what it used to be. Things are happening, names are taken off, people aren’t getting through,” said Trump. “It seems to be if they’re conservative, if they’re Republicans, if they’re in a certain group, there’s discrimination, big discrimination.”Neither the White House nor Facebook nor Google immediately responded to requests for comment. Twitter declined to comment. This isn’t Trump’s first time alleging that social media companies are silencing conservative voices on their platforms. In August, Trump took to Twitter to accuse social media companies of “totally discriminating against Republican/Conservative voices.” His tweets also came amid more general concerns among some conservatives about perceived bias on the part of social media and tech companies. On Tuesday, Facebook apologized to Trump’s social media director, Dan Scavino, for temporarily blocking some contents on his account on Monday, according to CNN Business. Facebook’s artificial intelligence system reportedly mistook Scavino for a bot. Tags Share your voice 8 Comments Politics Internet Mobile Digital Media Facebook Google

Popular on Variety Amazon has grabbed international rights to CBS All Access’ “Star Trek”-branded series revolving around Patrick Stewart’s Jean-Luc Picard character.Amazon has picked up the show from CBS Television Studios in more than 200 territories outside the U.S. and Canada. There’s no word yet on a premiere date for the show. Amazon will have episodes of the show within 24 hours of the U.S. debut, under a multi-year commitment. The decision to sell the show to Amazon indicates that CBS will not hold back its premium content outside the U.S. even as it looks to build out the CBS All Access subscriber base on a global basis. CBS has wholly owned streaming platforms operating in the U.S., Canada and Australia. But with a limited international footprint at present, CBS likely couldn’t afford to down what was undoubtedly a rich offer from Amazon. 4 min read Growing a business sometimes requires thinking outside the box. Opinions expressed by Entrepreneur contributors are their own. The Internet is the first place a typical user will go for information about your company or organization. Not having a website for your brand is basically akin to not existing. Deciding where to set up shop online is an important step toward establishing a legitimate brand and effectively getting the word out about what you offer. It isn’t quite as easy as it used to be. With an estimated 100 million websites using the .com extension, the options for many small businesses and startups have all but dried up. Until recently, entrepreneurs either had to burn vital seed money for the .com name they wanted or settle for a second-rate choice such as .co or .net.Related: City-Specific Domain Names to Be a Boon for Local Business OwnersFortunately, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), the non-profit group that manages domain names, has begun approving new extensions that provide additional opportunities for entrepreneurs to set up a more appealing and descriptive space on the web. Soon you’ll have the choice of endings like .app, .design, .dev, .health, .wiki, .systems and .tech. Consider some of the benefits below of using these and other new TLDs as you prepare to set up shop on the web:Use them as a brand building tool. Creating a strong online brand presence is crucial but, given the sheer number of companies on the web, chances are high that someone has already registered the domain you want. Companies looking for an is easily searchable URL that resonates with their target audience can get more creative with these new domains. The app, Putty, has now set up shop at Putty.Ink. While it’s indeed a bit of an offbeat name, Putty.com looks to have already been taken. The .ink extension was playfully brought in as a workable alternative since the app is all about sharing print articles online. Given the competion between startups in Silicon Valley, Silicon Alley and other tech hotbed areas, some companies might want to distinguish themselves via their geography. Companies attached to specific locations, like the “Made in NY” brand might want to consider moving to the .nyc extension that will be made available to the general public in October.Boost the online presence of niche industries. New TLDs present a huge opportunity for niche businesses like tattooing, wine making and screen printing to really enhance their existing web presences. The tattoo industry, for example, traditionally relied on word-of-mouth to attract new customers. Today, with increasing acceptance of tattoos as well as the advent of social media to share and compare ink, tattoo artists and shops can’t afford to miss out on the benefits of being online. It’s a creative industry that could easily leverage a variety of new domains like .ink, .tattoo, .art, or even simply .studio, to boost its online presence and start appealing to customers researching where to get new ink online.Expand to other languages. Country specific extensions like .ca (Canada) and .it (Italy) have been around for a while now, but with new domains there is a critical opportunity to reach users in their native languages.Related: The Multilingual WebICANN has begun rolling out domains in scripts like Arabic and Chinese. Major companies like Amazon and Wal-Mart have already begun applying for international domain names for their specific brand names and for terms like “.store,” “.electronics” and “.fashion,” translated into Japanese and Chinese scripts. They understand the value of appealing to potential customers in the languages they use every day. While major brands will have their own TLDs in these foreign scripts, generic terms like “.shop” in Arabic, Chinese and Japanese will be available for registration by entrepreneurs exploring opportunities in Asia and the Middle East. Soon, no one will have to navigate the Internet in a language not their own.Over the next few years, as new gTLDs come to market, brands will unveil the many ways they plan to make use of them. Entrepreneurs are wise to keep an eye out as more extensions become available and leverage those that best enhance their online presence. There are many newsletters you can sign-up for to stay alerted to domains you’re interested in and you can see a full list of applied for TLDs at ICANNwiki.Related: The Basics of Domain Names for Your Business August 21, 2014 Free Webinar | Sept. 9: The Entrepreneur’s Playbook for Going Global Register Now »
Last Audit PC audit software by Martin Brinkmann on May 14, 2016 in Software – 8 commentsLast Audit is a PC audit software that you can run to generate security reports that reveal potentially problematic system settings, file leaks, and other security or privacy related issues. The program is offered as a portable version that you can run from any location. Last Audit displays a scan configuration screen on start that you use to select what you want it to scan. The main areas are files on drives you select, network locations in the local area network, configuration of the operating system, passwords, known vulnerabilities, and active directory. The scan time depends largely on the selection on that initial screen. A click on the start button starts the scan and a progress bar is displayed on the screen that helps you understand how far it has progressed.Last AuditLast Audit launches the scan report as a HTML file in the default web browser once the scan finishes. It lists the report location in the program interface as well which can be useful if you closed the browser window accidentally or blocked it from opening in first place. To make matters even easier, it is always saved under the same path that you run Last Audit from. The report uses a color coded system to highlight the following threat categories:Red: critical vulnerabilities, misconfigurations and sensitive information.Orange: important vulnerabilities and sensitive information.Blue: valuable information that may be exploited.Green: information of potential value to attackers. The program lists the following areas using the color coded system. Suggestions are sometimes displayed (you should not use administrator account for every day activities) to point you in the right direction.User account level.Passwords found in browsers such as Firefox or Internet Explorer.Credential and password files found on the local system.Office macros.Virtual machine disks on the local system.Sensitive files based on parsing for keywords such as confidential, password, admin or secret.Whether Applocker is running.Powershell execute permissions.Autostart programs in the Windows Registry.Torrent / P2P software detection.Files and folders outside the user profile with write access.Email, calendar and contact files.Database files.Macros found in documents.Firefox browsing history and search history (30 days)Firefox cookies (3 days)Chrome browsing history (30 days)Internet Explorer history (30 days)Explorer files (30 days)Scripts found on the local system, e.g. .vbs files.Unsigned executable files outside standard locations.USB disks.Pictures found.Apps malware may exploit.Screenshots found.Clipboard data at the time of scan.Uncommon processes listening on localhost.Antivirus Software installed. The information are graded from most severe (red) to least (green) so that you find the most important areas that you need to look through right at the top of the report. You will notice that not everything that is listed by the program is an issue. It may be easy enough to explain why a program is listening on localhost, or to confirm that the sensitive documents are not all that important and are not possible information leaks.Others may require some research before you can assess the risk or block a potential information leak.Last Audit is quite different from the audit software Belar Advisor. In fact, it complements it nicely. Belarc covers areas that Last Audit does not and the other way round. It makes sense to run both, compare results and go through them both afterwards to harden the system if necessary.Closing WordsLast Audit is a handy security audit software for PCs that points you at potential security, privacy or information leak issues on the system.Summary12345 Author Rating2.5 based on 2 votes Software Name Last AuditOperating System WindowsSoftware Category SecurityLanding Page https://lastaudit.wordpress.com/ Advertisement
